IT-UDS-AVC is responsible for planning, designing and
maintaining videoconferencing facilities at CERN and by generally providing videoconferencing support to the LHC community.

CERN has a room endpoint infrastructure based on industry standard videoconferencing units (using H.323 and SIP protocols).

Videoconferencing Support changes at CERN, from the 1st of Feb 2009:
- The support for the videoconferencing activity at CERN will slightly
change from the 1st of February 2009
- The changes (reflected in the right panel) have been put in place in order to improve the quality of service for Users and to better organize the support activity, as it grows quite fast.

Information on how to request and use our services
request support for a videoconference session:
- Follow the guidelines found on this page at least 1 day before the event
- Meeting start request is done via mail or phone, should be addressed at least 20 min. before the meeting starts
- Technical troubleshooting and/or meeting startup will
preferentially be done remotely
- During the assistance time, the support staff will be physically present only if technically needed
- Working hours
- Normal working hours: 8:30 - 17:30
- Out-of-hours support: 17:30 - 21:00
- Such support must be called upon at least 3 days in advance.
- All the remaining cases during Out-of-hours (including real time troubleshooting) will be taken in a best effort basis (no guaranteed service).

installation of a new permanent videoconference venue:
- send a request email to videoconference-support@cern.ch
- we will then contact you back to organise a meeting in the existing room
- equipping an existing meeting room takes between 1 and 2 months depending on the complexity of the request
